The one Broadway show I've wanted to see while we are here in New York is Wicked. And because it is the show to see around here tickets are pretty hard to come by and very pricey. Some friends of ours told us to go the the Wicked ticket office to see if any partial view tickets were left. These are the seats way on the side where you don't get the best view but they are pretty cheap because of that. So we went to the box office to see if we could get any of these tickets. Unfortunately the guy told us that all seats, good and bad, are completely sold out for the rest of summer. I was crushed! I wanted to see the show so bad. Then the guy proceeded to tell us that he had 2 tickets on the 8th row that opened up for the show that night and is selling them for less than half the original price. It took us about point 5 seconds to say yes to that offer! We snatched those babies up so fast and had eighth row tickets in our hands for that very night that were worth over three hundred dollars a piece. I was one happy camper. I am so glad we got those tickets because the show was absolutely amazing. I have the Wicked CD so it was fun to see all the song that I knew actually acted out on stage. And Dustin who is the most non-musical lovin' type of guy loved it, and really appreciated the talent in this show. So if I don't do anything exciting here the rest of the summer, I will still be go home satisfied after seeing Wicked. It was awesome.

Fun with the Heatons

Yep, I've been slacking a little, I haven't posted in over two weeks! Well time for catch up. New York City is great as always, we have spent time the last few weeks hanging with friends, trying new restaurants and food (duck) and working. Our time here has flown by and we can't believe we are almost half way through our stay here in New York City.

We were fortunate to have our good friends the Heatons come visit us for a few days this past week from Cleveland. We had a great time showing them all the New York sites and playing in the city. We hit up Times Square, South Street Seaport, Staten Island Ferry, Ground Zero, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, 5th Avenue and Rockefeller Center to name a few. We loved having visitors and especially had such a fun time watching little Jack and laughing at all the cute things he does. Thanks for coming you guys! We had so much fun with you!

We were able to make it to a Broadway show this weekend to see Hairspray. This is definitely a must see. The show was awesome. It was so entertaining from start to finish, and the actors were all so so talented and all did a great job. The show was so colorful and high energy, we definitely enjoyed ourselves.

P.S.-- So Does anyone remember the boy band O-town?? (I'm not talking to you Steph and Stace, we all know you dreamed about them at night in High School). Anyways they were formed on the reality show Making the Band probably about 8 years ago. I pretty much loved them during their fifteen minutes of fame. It just happens that one of the band members (my favorite) Ashley Parker Angel (lame name I know), was Link in Hairspray, one of the main parts. Needless to say I was pretty excited and he actually did a really good job. Pretty funny though.

Past Week's Happenings

So I was able to score Dustin and I tickets to David Letterman today. This was definitely the most fun thing we have done in New York City so far. After waiting in line to pick up our tickets an employee took us aside and said we had been chosen for special VIP seating. We were super excited and ended up sitting in the 2nd row right in the center. The show was great, Dave was funny as usual, and we really had a great time. Watch the show tonight if you can!

Last Thursday I got up bright and early to go to the Today Show to see David Cook and David Archuletta from American Idol perform. By the time I got there at 7am the place was completely packed. After standing around for almost 2 hours the guys finally came out and sang. They were both awesome and it was really cool getting to hear them live and in person. I wish they sang more than one song each! I was kind of far back and didn't really get many good pictures, plus my camera died before David Cook sang. Anyways, I know it's kind of blurry but I got this picture of David Archuletta and Matt Lauer before my camera died.

This last picture is from the famous Magnolia Bakery. They are know for their amazing cupcakes and have been featured on TV shows, magazines and all the celebs get their cupcakes there, since cupcakes are all the rage now I guess. They are quite delicious, but Dustin didn't think they were worth the half hour wait in line for them. I beg to differ. It was funny because a couple walking by seeing the huge line asked what we were waiting for. I replied back that we were in line for cupcakes and then realized how ridiculous that sounded. Oh well, they were good.

Lame Sauce

Okay, so I am a big Indiana Jones fan. I like the movies but they aren't as entertaining as the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. Amazing! We rode that ride 5 times in a row once, talk about whiplash. Anyways, Dustin and I saw the new Jones movie on Memorial Day and needless to say I was disappointed. The movie itself wasn't bad until the end. I don't go to Star Wars movies for a reason and I don't want aliens in my Indiana Jones movies! We went to see the movie at 10:30 in the morning to get catch the matinee, but apparently Manhattan doesn't want to give the general public a break and we ended up paying 24 bucks. Although I would recommend seeing it in the theaters, the ending left something to be desired. Anyone agree?

We have been blessed with continued great weather here and were excited when some of our friends from Michigan came to New York this weekend. We took another trip to Central Park, went to Times Square and had a great time.

Then Dustin and I went to South Street Seaport and took a walk around the water. I love our location because we are literally surrounded by water. We are living in the very southern tip of Manhattan so the water is only a few minute walk in every direction. It reminds me of Seattle! Anyways, there is a great view of the Brooklyn bridge, huge pirate looking ships and a bunch of shop and restaurants. I'm sure will be going there a lot this summer.
