Lame Sauce

Okay, so I am a big Indiana Jones fan. I like the movies but they aren't as entertaining as the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. Amazing! We rode that ride 5 times in a row once, talk about whiplash. Anyways, Dustin and I saw the new Jones movie on Memorial Day and needless to say I was disappointed. The movie itself wasn't bad until the end. I don't go to Star Wars movies for a reason and I don't want aliens in my Indiana Jones movies! We went to see the movie at 10:30 in the morning to get catch the matinee, but apparently Manhattan doesn't want to give the general public a break and we ended up paying 24 bucks. Although I would recommend seeing it in the theaters, the ending left something to be desired. Anyone agree?

We have been blessed with continued great weather here and were excited when some of our friends from Michigan came to New York this weekend. We took another trip to Central Park, went to Times Square and had a great time.

Then Dustin and I went to South Street Seaport and took a walk around the water. I love our location because we are literally surrounded by water. We are living in the very southern tip of Manhattan so the water is only a few minute walk in every direction. It reminds me of Seattle! Anyways, there is a great view of the Brooklyn bridge, huge pirate looking ships and a bunch of shop and restaurants. I'm sure will be going there a lot this summer.

Central Park and the Staten Island Ferry

Friday afternoon/evening we decided to ride the Staten Island Ferry. Anyone who comes to NYC needs to ride the ferry; the best part is the fact that it's free. The weather has been fantastic. So we've tried to take advantage of it.

Today we had great weather again so we decided to walk through Central Park. Another must see for anyone who comes and visits.

We also went by the temple. We are going to try to get there in the next few weeks.

So far we've had a great weekend and look forward to Dustin's day off on Monday.

So is there any American Idol fans out there? I am a huge fan. David vs. David. I was routing for David Archuletta because his voice is amazing and he from Utah like me, and he is just so darn cute. But I did also like David Cook. I think he is really talented, so I was happy with either/or I guess. Best part of the finale was when Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downy Jr. did a skit as back up singers to Gladys Night. Hilarious. Anyways, 97 million votes were placed for the American idol finale. Crazy! Who were you routing for? Congrats David Cook!

More NYC fun

So a friend of mine Jamie and her mom Cathy from Enumclaw were in NYC this week for a stationary convention where Jamie was featuring her really cute cards she designed. Anyways I got spend the day with them at the convention and then we took a stroll through Times Square.

My sister Steph tagged me a long time ago. Just now getting to it. Here it goes. 1. What I was doing 10 years ago. Well I was 12. Finishing my last school year at Carden Memorial Private school because we would soon be moving to Washington. Playing with friends, going to movies. 2. Five things on my to-do list. Being here in NYC my list is so long. But as for today- go to the gym, go get a fruit smoothie downstairs, take back some applications to places I applied for a job, make the bed eventually, and wait for Dustin to get home from work to decide what the plans are for tonight! 3. If I were a billionaire I would.. Take an amazing vacation with all the family- Somewhere warm. South of France? Bahamas? And take a private jet there. No more flying coach -ever! Buy a house on the water. A new car, a personal chef and trainer and a whole new wardrobe of coarse. Set up college funds for my children, give some to good causes. travel like crazy. I don't know I could probably go on and on. 4. Bad habits Sleeping in/sleeping too much. If I don't have to wake up for work or church or something else, don't count on me getting up at a normal hour. Dustin and I are complete opposites in this by the way. On a day I sleep in, Dustin has already accomplished 10 things, had two meals, etc. etc. I am also a magazine freak and have to know my celebrity gossip. Stupid right? Confession: Sometimes I'll get in the longest line at the grocery store on purpose just so I have more time to look at the magazines at the check out counter. Poeple.com gets daily visits from me. 5. Five places I've lived. Salt Lake City, UT Enumclaw, WA Rexburg and Idaho Falls, ID East Lansing, MI New York City, NY 6. Six Jobs I've had. 1.Food worker at King County Fair (Embarrassing I know. I think I was 15 or something) 2. Receptionist/Cashier/Filer- Gamblin Motors car dealership. 3.Market Research -Western Watts. I sat on the phone all day trying to get CEO's to do a telephone survey. This constitutes as the worst job ever! 4. Sales/Market Research/Data Entry -Melaleuca Inc. AKA Mela-puke-a 5. Sales Associate -Hart's Tux and Gowns (Most stressful job ever!! Can you say Bridezilla?!) 6. Sales/ Stock Precessing- Express clothing store Well there you have it. I tag Rochelle, Amanda, Hilary Craner, Steph Vogel, and Aimee Olsen

We're Here!

Finally, we arrived here in New York City safe and sound. I love it already. It's pretty amazing. I love our apartment, the setting...everything! We are really looking forward to this summer and all of the experiences it has to bring. I'm sure there will be plenty. We flew into town around 3pm, grabbed our luggage and made the scariest car ride ever to our apartment. Our taxi driver was crazy, I thought we weren't going to live to see out new place! I think I got whiplash one hundred times while feeling like I was going to throw up from his crazy driving while trying to breath out of mouth as to not inhale the overbearing smell of the taxi drivers body odor. All Dustin could do was laugh. Good times.

Needless to say we finally got to our place after 4 o'clock and stared to get settled in. We love it! Cute furniture, vaulted ceiling, huge windows and a great view of a beautiful cathedral-looking church out our window. And we have a maid that comes every other week to do the deep cleaning. I like the sound of that! After getting somewhat settled we headed out to take a look around. We walked over to Battery Park looking out towards the water, it was beautiful. We went to the rooftop of our building to check out the views. We have a direct view of ground zero and saw all the construction going on there.

Then we figured we should get some groceries. That wasn't the easiest task. They don't have big grocery stores here so it took a while to actually find the place. Once we got the little grocery market, we were in complete sticker shock. Over seven dollars for cereal? You got to be kidding me! So we got the necessities and with grocery bags in tow, we walked back to our apartment. That was a workout in it's own. We finished off our first day in NYC with some New York pizza, cheese cake and a evening stroll down wall street. Needless to say we are tired. Dustin better rest up because he starts work first thing Monday morning. Time for bed.

Family Time

So before we headed off to New York for the summer we drove down to Missouri to spend two weeks with Dustin's family. We had a great time with everyone and enjoyed the tranquillity of the great outdoors of rural Missouri. A few downfalls of the trip: tornadoes, farmer tans, and Dustin contracting poison oak. What can you do? I had my Birthday in Missouri on the 16th and we went to Johnny Carrinos for some dinner. Here are a few shots of the fam.
